To date we have installed four freshwater wells in Kamdini Parish, Northern Uganda. The four wells allow over 5000 people in Uganda to drink fresh, clean water. Our immediate goal is to raise enough funds to purchase a well drilling machine and a truck to transport it. The machine and a truck would cost about Canadian $35,000. This would allow NUDF to install more wells throughout rural Northern Uganda at a cheaper cost. Currently, we are renting a machine and truck and spending about Canadian $3,000 to $12,000 to dig a well, depending on the depth of the water table. With the well drilling machine we could drill wells much cheaper, pass on the savings to other NGO's to drill their wells and employ two people to drill the actual well. The breakdown of the cost of drilling a well is shown below.
